Many years ago we were told that Fluoride would improve our teeth, and at the same time that it was harmless to human health. To date there is not a single honest study to establish either that it works or that it is safe. Early Soviet writings reveal that fluorides had customarily been used to calm intractable prize bulls, making them easier to handle. Similarly, in the 1940s, Sodium Fluoride was added to the water given to prisoners-of-war to make them stupid and docile.270 Is this really something that we want to be consuming on a daily basis?
The Health Risks of Fluoride
- In the West we use high levels of Fluoride components in most of the major tranquillizers given to our mentally ill. 270
- The most widely used anti-depressive drug today is Prozac, or fluoxetine hydrochloride, a Fluoride compound. 270
- There is Fluoride used in rat poison. 270
- Government documents recently declassified at the fifty year mark reveal that Fluoride was the key chemical in atomic and nuclear bomb production. 273
- The first person to promote fluoridation as a means of preventing tooth decay was American, Dr Trendley Dean; since then he was twice hauled into court (1955 and 1960) and forced to admit that the statistics from early studies he used to promote fluoridation were invalid, that is fraudulent. 275
- A former Special Consultant to the Minister of Health, British Columbia, Dr Richard G Foulkes, M.D. B.A., was originally the one who recommended that Fluoride be added to the water supply in British Columbia. Of his complete reversal Dr Foulkes now says: “in the light of what is currently found in reputable journals with peer review mechanisms and in various Government documents and correspondence, I now hold a different view”. In fact Dr Foulkes, now actively campaigning to get it out of the water, believes that Fluoride causes brittle bones in the elderly and may be a factor in certain forms of cancer.” 277
- One of the problems is that today Fluoride can be found in so many things beyond the drinking water: foods, soft drinks, toothpaste, mouth rinses, and topical application gels. No one knows who is actually getting how much. (It has been estimated that children swallow about one-third of the toothpaste they use.) Moreover, you can get as much as 5mg per day from a combination of tea and the water with it. You get more in boiled water than in unboiled, and you get it sometimes in high amounts of bottled water. Even if we were to stop artificially fluoridating our drinking water tomorrow, the environment is already overflowing with it. 282
- In 1960, Dr M A Roshal of Canada, pointed out that even at the so-called ‘safe’ levels of 1.0ppm, blood sugar metabolism is adversely affected. People with diabetes or hypoglycaemia should not take in Fluoride. 295
- Dr Jonathan Forman a prominent allergist from the US has written; ‘In our practice we have run down cases of hives in several patients with behaviour problems and others who have been labelled neurotic, and have found the cause to be fluoride contamination. When these people were put on distilled water and when fluoride-containing foods were removed from their diets, they recovered. When fluorides were re-introduced into their diets, the symptoms returned”.296
- Since 1994 it has been known that Fluoride can accumulate in brain tissues and affect behaviour, I.Q., and/or learning abilities, depending on the age at exposure, and moreover, that it has the potential to cause motor dysfunction. 297
- The American National Cancer Institute surveys found that since 1973, in fluoridated areas around the country, there was a 53% increase of bone cancer (osteosarcoma, a rare form of cancer) in males under the age of 20.300
- Fluoride also reduces the mobility of white blood cells, which thus depresses the immune system, our defence against infections and cancer.302
The Affects of Fluoride on the Quality of your Bones
- Recently an animal study has demonstrated that with increasing Fluoride levels in the diet the quality of bone decreases. The scientist’s conclusions: “Ultrastructural disorientation of bone tissue and articular cartilage is a toxic effect of Fluoride.”286
- Fluoride increases the requirements for Calcium as well as Magnesium, which can result in a general state of deficiency with secondary hormonal problems.287
- There are now seven studies which show an association between fluoridated water and hip fractures. 288
- Hip fractures as a result of osteoporosis cause more deaths today than cancers of the breast, cervix and uterus combined.289
What Affect does Fluoride have on the Environment?
- From the University of North Wales , Geoffrey Dobbs: “Children have been reported to drink about 0.04% of the public water supply, so that the remaining 99.6% of the fluoride added is pure pollution with nothing to recommend or justify it…”310
- The affect of this enormous dumping of toxic substance into our waterways has contributed to the depletion of our fish and resources. Dredging brings up the Fluoride from the bottom where it falls and accumulates. Immature fish are the most sensitive to it. If exposed to Fluoride they will make unproductive eggs and develop bone abnormalities, just as we do. 312
Finally, the conservative American Food and Drug Administration require warning labels on all Fluoride toothpaste as follows: “WARNING: Keep out of reach of children under six years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional medical help or contact poison control center immediately.” – If that is not an admission that Fluoride is a poison, what can be?270
